The first Cash Converters outlet opened in 1984 in Perth, Western Australia. Driven by its initial success the operating model was refined and a further seven stores were opened across the state. The first franchised outlet was opened in 1988 and by 1990 the Group had expanded into other Australian States.

Success in the Australian market allowed Cash Converters to then establish itself overseas. Landing initially in the United Kingdom, by December 1994 the Group entered the first (of many) non-English speaking markets in France.

Cash Converters has continued to grow and develop new markets, made possible by the consistent delivery of value to our customers.
